What My Readers Are Saying/Reviews And Comments

When Antoinette's book arrived here in Scotland last year it lived on my desk for six months...being read constantly. Into this book this lady has poured her soul, sadness and suffering...but it is not a sad book...look at the title...
Victorious...indeed.
This is a book of amazing triumph over all adversity and a book that will give you the strength to want to tackle all problems in your life with renewed vigor...briefly...
Buy it,
Read it......
Live it.”

“Great Book. Powerful and very emotional. This book will have you in tears one minute, laughing the next, and angry the next. As you read on you will feel waves of joy and relief and happiness. Victim Victorious is inspirational and displays the strength of the author to embrace the pains and troubles of life and turn it into triumph. Its a book I will read again and again and again. Well worth the bucks! 10 STARS to ANTOINETTE D. JOHNSON.”

“This book is a strong, truthful account with no punches pulled or excuses made of the author’s life. She has beautiful poems about her family and about her parents especially. The poems about her parents are as if written by them from heaven. These are uplifting and inspiriting poems of the Joy to be found after death.

Her “Let My Words” poem is a call to all of us to read her story - about “tears and God’s Glory.” The abuse she endured began with the poem, “Don’t Touch,” it is a cry to parents to educate their children about their bodies and let no one touch them.

Her loss of innocence built a wall behind which she kept the “filthy the little secret” because she felt she would be met with disbelief and blame. When her parents got divorced, this little girl took the blame for the divorce upon herself as abused children do; an abused child’s life would crumple if they thought the adults in their lives were wrong; the adults are all the child has to rely on for food and shelter and maybe love.

Contemplating suicide she comes to the conclusion: “I dared to die; Now I dare to live” very moving and brutally honest. Her life continued to be tainted by abuse and rape from men; but she found the love of her life; a good man, only to lose him to the sea.

Her hurtful visceral imagery of being abused is hard to read but also the reader is unable to put the book down. Because of the abuse and loss of self-esteem and true love, she became addicted to alcohol. Her emotional status was one of upheaval and misery. But her strength in getting sober is amazing and touching.

She lives with an “Attitude of Gratitude” for who she is today. Her love of poetry and how it helps her survive is interesting and insightful. She feels all things happen for a reason. This is a very strong capable vitally amazing woman. She says “I forgive you to set me free.” Now that is a very wise and deeply philosophical statement of many layers which is an exposure of the worth and love and beauty of this woman.

The last statement in her book says “loving myself, it becomes clear;
why chronic victim has no more tears.”
Please get this book; you will be glad you did.”

"Victim Victorious" is a great poetry book by Antoinette Denise Johnson. Her poems are written from within her heart and core. She writes of past experiences and writes to bring comfort and healing through her words. She honors her parents in the poem, "A Family Devoted," and "My Daddy Died Today". She honors other family members with various poems to show her love. Absolutely loved the poem, "Devil Can't Get me Down Today." She has great spirtual value within this collection and I am proud to have her book among my poetry books here within my home. I highly recommend this book for all poetry lovers. Kudos to you Antoinette.
