HER SECOND CHANCE- BY ANTOINETTE D. JOHNSON

HER SECOND CHANCE

Bondage broken

Shackles loose

Words spoken

Of her abuse

No longer battered

Broken or bruised

What seemed to matter

Kept her confused

No longer accused

Of cheating on you

No longer the object

Of trivial pursuits

No more phone calls

Terrorist’s threats

No more guns

Held to her head

Nightmares gone

Of being dead

Anxiety is done

P.T.S.D. too

Self worth won

visions

with no you

Boundaries set

Power regained

No more regrets

Her spirit retained

Her heart is cracked

Yet in repair

Memoirs stacked

Of how she got there

Like books….

stacked

Upon the shelf

Your bags are packed

She loves herself

Herself she loves

Her second chance

From God above

No longer stalked

Ms Antoinette,

She now knows

God’s not done yet

  1. This is a well written poem, showing the despair, pain, misery then healing from abuse. You have a voice that needs to be heard. Thanks for a look into your past and future happiness.
